Athenry (Galway) 1-19 Four Roads (Roscommon) 0-9

Athenry took another step to regaining their All-Ireland SHC crown today with an all too easy win over Four Roads in the Connacht final.

Inspired by forwards Eugene Cloonan (0-8 for game), Joe Rabbitte and David Donoghue, Athenry never looked in danger against the Roscommon chamnps.

Managed by Pat Nally Athenry must now be serious contenders for All-Ireland honours following their final win over Graigue Ballycallan in 2001.

They led in Ballyforan 0-9 to 0-3 at the break but Donoghue's goal after the restart sealed the win.
