Dublin county board rejects independent arbitrator

The Dublin county board this evening rejected Na Fianna's claims for an independent arbitrator to adjudicate on the six-sub fiasco.

Na Fianna are due back in the High Court on Thursday to appeal against their dismissal from the Dublin SFC for fielding six substitutes in their quarter-final win over Raheny last Saturday week.

Club spokesman Jim Aughney said today: "What we want is for someone to come from outside the association to rule on the issue, someone who is not linked to the GAA in any way and is not employed by them."

But a Dublin county board official countered: "If Na Fianna want to explore arbitration through the proper channels within the GAA we would be happy to listen to that. But what they have suggested is just not feasible."
