Crossmaglen hold Errigal to draw

An Oisin McConville inspired Crossmaglen Rangers side just about held Tyrone champions Errigal Ciaran to a draw in a pulsating Ulster SFC quarter-final tie at Omagh.

Crossmaglen Rangers 3-6, Errigal Ciaran 2-9

An Oisin McConville inspired Crossmaglen Rangers side just about held Tyrone champions Errigal Ciaran to a draw in a pulsating Ulster SFC quarter-final tie at Omagh.

The result will leave Ulster chiefs with a fixture headache after the tie, originally scheduled for last Sunday, was postponed because of a flooded pitch.

Peter Canavan was a revelation this time for Ciaran as they tipped the odds and almost stole victory right at the death with a flurry of chances.

The sides will meet again next Sunday in Crossmaglen, where the home side, All-Ireland champions as recently as 2000, will go in as favourites to advance.

In the Connacht SFC semi-final, 2001 All-Ireland champions Crossmolina had ace free-taker Kieran McDonald to thank for a 2-14 to 1-7 win over Leitrim's Allen Gaels in Carrick-on-Shannon.
