Carney rules out talk of Fay return

Ireland selector Martin Carney has ruled out talk of a dramatic return to the national ranks for Meath full-back Darren Fay.

Rules veteran Fay missed Ireland's opening day test, a 65-58 loss last Sunday with an ankle injury.

But he lined out for Trim in the county semi-final win over St Peter's, Dunboyne prompting speculation that he would be fit to return.

Carney said however: "My understanding of the situation is that Darren aggravated his ankle injury at the weekend."
