Contenders emerge for Galway job
The Galway hurling board has received a number of nominations to succeed senior county manager Noel Lane.
Conor Hayes appears to be the favourite but stiff competition could also come from former All-Ireland winner, U-21 boss and publican Brendan Lynskey.
Nominations for the post closed at 4pm yesterday and other names received include Mattie Murphy, Clare man Sean Stack and Gerry Fahy.
"We hope to have a successor in place in time for the Railway Cup which runs from November 2-3," said hurling board secretary Phelim Murphy.
