Brian Talty has turned down the offer to succeed Mick O'Dwyer as Kildare senior football manager.

Talty is currently training the Dublin U-21s but received several advances about stepping up to the position following successful spells on the Dublin club scene.

Talty is a former Galway star and a highly respected figure in GAA but it now appears that the main contenders for the job are Padraig Nolan and Richie Connor.
