Armagh's Kernan scoops merit award

Armagh manager Joe Kernan has been named today as the winner of the Ulster GAA Writers' Merit Award for September.

Kernan played a vital role in Armagh's wins over Dublin and Kerry to take the All-Ireland senior football championship title for the first time.

This is his second such award as he was also honoured after he led Crossmaglen Rangers to the All Ireland club title three times in four years.

He will collect sports vouchers from Bass Ireland and Pro-Star Sport as well as an engraved Balleek china vase.
