Tipperary 2-14 Waterford 1-11

A goal five minutes from time from senior star Lar Corbett steered Tipperary to a victory over rivals Waterford in the Munster under-21 hurling semi-final at Semple Stadium this evening.

In a dour affair Tipperary led at the interval by 0-8 to 0-5 having played with the aid of the breeze.

Senior star Eoin Kelly contributed three of those points while corner forward Eamon Ryan was on target for two scores.

Waterford were the happier at half-time – their Eoin Kelly hit four of the scores and had placed them in a good position at the break.

The second half was a nip-and-tuck affair – the decisive score came from Corbett after he raced onto an Eoin Kelly pass and blasted past Waterford keeper David O’Rourke.

Five minutes later Eoin Brislane had Tipperary’s second goal to seal victory, while John Mullane had an injury time consolation goal for the Deise.
