Semple Stadium ready for big match

Semple Stadium, Thurles is ready for the Cork vs Waterford Guinness Munster hurling clash on Sunday next.

Following extensive refurbishment of the Old Stand, which has included the provision of two new tunnels under the stand to allow for ease of access and egress, work has been completed on time.

Phase 1 of the proposed developments for the Thurles stadium have now been completed and after the summer Phase 2 will commence. This will include the roofing of the entire Old Stand and the extension of the terraces to allow a higher capacity.

State of the art low level fencing has also been installed to give patrons a better view of the action and from now on , substitutes will have a cordoned section in the stand from where they can view the game.

Semple Stadium Management Committee are preparing to spend €1.5m on the work.
