GAA: Carroll awaits news of knee injury

Tipperary senior hurler John Carroll is anxiously awaiting news of extensive examinations carried out on his knee which he damaged in the Allianz National Hurling League semi-final on Sunday last against Cork.

Tipperary suffered a heavy defeat in that game but were missing a number of key players through injury.

Now Carrolls' injury has added futher to the growing list of casualties and gives further cause for concern to manager Nicky English who had to make do without all star Eddie Enright, Mark O'Leary, John O'Brien, Paul Ormond and Brian O'Meara for that game.

And with the Munster Championship first round clash with Clare less than one month away, English will be anxious that his star forward will turn up with a clean bill of health.

Carroll underwent examinations in Waterford today but the results have not yet been made known. He suffered a twist to the knee during the course of the game against Cork and was substituted immediately.
