Football: Cork defeated by Offaly

Cork suffered defeat at the hands of Offaly and saw their chances of a play off place wiped out by the midlanders.

A dramatic second half saw Cork’s Philip Clifford and Offaly’s James Grennan sent to the line.

Cork led by 1-05 to 0-06 after a Brendan Ger O’Sullivan goal, but despite playing with a stiff breeze in the second half the Rebels could not contain Offaly.

Paschal Callaghan and Alan McNamee goals were the difference between the sides in the second half and despite good work, Cork failed to recover.
