Golf: McCarron's monster putt gives him Nissan lead
Scott McCarron holed a 50-foot eagle putt from just off the 17th green to take a one-shot lead in the Nissan Open.
The American fired a six-under 65 to edge ahead of halfway leader Toru Taniguchi.
McCarron lies on 14-under, while Taniguchi continued his steady play with a bogey-free 67.
Len Mattiace holed birdie putts of 20 and 30 feet on the final two holes for a 67 to finish at 201.
Seven players were within five shots of the lead with Rory Sabbatini shooting 30 on the back nine to finish with a 65, leaving him three shots off the leader on 202, along with Brad Faxon (68).
David Duval birdied three of the last four holes, but that only gave him a 70 and he is among those at 206.
