GAA: Cavan dominate to take Derry clash

Cavan dominated this game from the end of the first quarter, their midfield paring of Collins and McKenna totally eclipsing the Derry pairing of Doherty and Heaney.

With their inside forwards , Larry and Jason Reilly and the livewire Michael Graham in form, Derry defense was given a torrid time, only Lockhart showing any defiance.

Derry did take the lead in the 20th minute when wing-back Davin O'Neill goaled but Cavan hit back within minutes, a Jason Reilly strike in the 25th minute helping them to a 1-06 to 1-03 interval lead.

The second half was virtually one-way traffic, as Cavan scored points at will to win more convincingly than the five-point margin might suggest.
