GAA: Fermanagh in easy Clare win

Fermanagh second half sub Raymond Gallagher was the star of the show in this vital home win at Enniskillen.

Fermanagh 1-14, Clare 1-08

Fermanagh second half sub Raymond Gallagher was the star of the show in this vital home win at Enniskillen.

Coming on at half-time, he scored four valuable points and his mere presence lifted the side after they had gone behind by 1-3 to 1-5, Denis Russell getting the opening score for Clare on the half.

Fermanagh got off to the best possible start with a point and superbly-taken goal, both from Rory Gallagher.

However, the same player fluffed a penalty kick in the 11th minute and Clare took full advantage to run up a 1-4 to 1-3 half-time lead, the goal coming from corner forward Stephen Hickey.

Twice in the second half it came level, the second time at 1-8, following a pointed free from Clare full forward Paul Hehir with 14 minutes left.

That was to be their last score however, as Gallagher and young local club man Colm Bradley turned on the style.

For good measure, the Brewster brothers Paul and Tom chipped in with a point each to round off a well-deserved victory.
