GAA referees to change their image
GAA referees are set to adopt a change of image by voting new coloured jerseys rather than the traditional black ones.
A vote will be taken at the referees committee meeting in Athlone on Tuesday evening next and the expectation is that the black jerseys will give way to a coloured variety such as green, red or yellow - similar to current soccer referee jerseys.
A number of options are on the table at the present time and the top referees in the country will vote for the colour of their choice.
The new jerseys will be used for the first time in the 2002 championships.
