GAA: Ballygunnar heave sigh of relief

Ballygunnar 2-10, Toomevara 0-15 (full-time)

Waterford champions Ballygunnar qualified for the Munster club senior hurling final courtesy of a one-point victory over Tipperary standard-bearers Toomevara in the semi-final replay at Walsh Park today.

The Waterford men led by 2-04 to 0-08 at the interval - their two goals coming from the stick of former Tipperary hurling star Andy Moloney in the 19th and 24th minutes.

Toomevara battled back into the game but Ballygunnar maintained the initiative and managed to keep their noses in front.

Just when it seemed as though the Tipperary men might get back on terms in the second half they lost wing-forward Eoin Brislane, who was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

An injury time free from sharp-shooter Ken Dunne went just outside the post for Toomevara who probably deserved a draw and Ballygunnar breathed a sigh of relief.

They now play Blackrock of Cork in the Munster Final in Thurles on Sunday next.
