GAA: Rockies defeat Adare in Munster club

Greater forward penetration by Blackrock proved decisive at Pairc Ui Chaoimh today as they defeated Limerick champions Adare by 1-14 to 1-11 in the Munster Club Hurling semi-final.

The Rockies led at half time by 0-9 to 0-8, and had taken a firm grip on the game by the 47th minute.

Cork senior star Alan Browne rifled over three, and a goal and a point by David Cashman put them 1-13 to 0-9 in front.

Adare - who won the Limerick title for the first time only two weeks ago and whose captain Mark Foley was nominated for an All-Star on Thursday - battled back.

Former county U21 captain Donnacha Sheehan got a goal and points from Conor Fitzgerald reduced the deficit to two.

However Browne, who finished with 10 points, popped up again to finish the game with a late score.
