GAA: Carr ousted as Dublin boss
Tommy Carr was ousted as manager of the Dublin senior football team last night following a dramatic meeting of the county board in Parnell Park.
After all delegates had cast their vote, 46 were in favour of Carr and 46 were against him.
That left chairman John Bailey with the casting vote.
After a 10-minute recess, Mr Bailey voted to bring Carr’s four-year reign to an end.
Tommy Carr took over the Dublin helm towards the end of 1997 but he has failed to lead the team to All-Ireland or league success during his spell in charge.
Dublin officials will now begin the process of appointing a new manager before the new league campaign begins next March.
The initial front-runners are former Dublin star Brian Mullins, current Na Fianna manager Paul Caffrey, Tommy Lyons and Val Andrews.
