Iarnrod Eireann defends GAA service
Iarnrod Eireann has hit back at criticism of the service it provides to GAA fans travelling to important games countrywide.
The company was criticised for laying on just three extra trains for last Saturday's All-Ireland football quarter-final between Dublin and Kerry in Thurles.
Most supporters arrived at the game by road, causing gridlock on roads around the Co Tipperary town.
An Iarnrod Eireann spokesman said today that the company must provide its regular service first and any spare capacity will be redirected towards GAA games.
