Hurling report: Wexford defeat Limerick in thriller

Wexford 4-10 Limerick 2-15

Underdogs Wexford have yet again dumped Limerick out of the All Ireland.

Goalkeeper Damian Fitzhenry was the hero of the hour for the Wexford faithful as his two goals ensured their win.

Wexford led from the off with a goal in the second minute from forward Rory McCarthy, followed up by a goal from Paul Codd.

Limerick battled back and two goals from Barry Foley left the half-time score 3-6 to 2-5.

Limerick began well in the second half and soon led the game from an O'Grady free with eight minutes to go.

However, Wexford earned a penalty in the dying minutes and Fitzhenry duly out it away to give Wexford their slender one-point win.

Wexford now face Tipperary in the All Ireland semi-final on Aug 12 and Kilkenny and Galway square up for the other semi.
