GAA: McDermott recalled to Meath side

The formerly-retired John McDermott has been recalled to the Meath side

that faces Dublin in Sunday's Bank of Ireland Leinster Football Final at

Croke Park.

He's placed at centre-field alongside Nigel Crawford, with Nigel Nestor

moving to right half-back to replace the suspended Paddy Reynolds.

The Skyrne star was slapped with an eight-week suspension by the Games

Administration Committee of the GAA on Thursday lunchtime following his

sending-off in the Leinster Semi-Final against Kildare.

Reynolds received a red card in the game against Kildare for an incident in

which Lilywhite star Ken Doyle was shown a second yellow - with the ban

backdated to June 26th, the date of the semi-final win.

For Dublin, despite some excellent stand-in performances, Stephen Cluxton

returns to the bench, with fit-again main choice keeper Davy Byrne

returning between the posts.

A vacancy has been left at centre-back, as Johnny Magee is an injury worry.
