Cork breathed a sigh of relief when the final whistle sounded in Nenagh at the end of the Div 2 Allianz NFL semi-final.

They had been the superior team for three-quarters of the game, enjoying a lead of eight points early in the second half.

However, Kildare came back strongly. Substitute Karl O'Dwyer scored for them six minutes from time and they were back in contention.

John Doyle narrowed the margin to a single point in the last minute, but Cork somehow held out to avoid being taken to extra time.
