GAA: Wexford complete rout over Derry

Final score: Wexford 4-20 Derry 1-7

Wexford maintained their outside chance of gaining a semi-final spot with a resounding 22-point victory over a depleted Derry side in their Allianz Div 1B national hurling league game at Enniscorthy.

They led 2-12 to 0-3 at the interval, their first goal arriving after just two minutes when wing forward Darren Stamp deflected a Paul Codd to the net.

Wexford were in total control and their second goal arrived five minutes from the break from full-forward Colm Byrne.

The second half was a triumph for full forward Colm Byrne who finished with a personal tally of 2-5, his second goal arriving after 50 minutes before he was called ashore to be replaced by Gary Laffan.

Derry's only goal arrived five minutes into the second half from full forward Michael Collins but their only real threat in attack was Gregory Biggs who shot five splendid points from frees.

Wexford completed their goal rout when Paul Finn found the net 10 minutes from the end.

This Wexford victory sets up a crucial final round clash with neighbours Kilkenny on April 22.
