GAA: Sixmilebridge and Graigue-Ballycallan must meet again

Sixmilebridge and Graigue-Ballycallan will have to do it all again after drawing 2-13 to 1-16 in the second AIB club championship semi-final at Thurles.

The Clare champions raced into an early 1-3 to 0-2 lead with a goal from Brian Culbert, but the Kilkenny side hauled themselves back into the game with points from Michael Hoyne and Adrian Ronan and trailed by a single point at half time.

Denis Byrne levelled the game after six minutes of the second half with a well-taken point and then Ronan seemed to put Graigue in the driving seat when he grabbed a high dropping ball on the edge of the square to lash past Davy Fitzgerald.

The Bridge hit back though, with a splendidly taken goal from full-forward Niall Gilligan, who rounded two men before driving the ball into the roof of the net from an acute angle.

John Reddan and Michael Hoyne then exchanged points before Brennan again levelled matters.

Both sides had chances to win in the final minutes of an entertaining game, but a replay will now be needed to see who will meet Athenry on St Patrick's Day in Croke Park.
