The unique and innovative platform will bring together leaders from the worlds of fitness, health, nutrition and sport, and will be staged at the INEC in Killarney on January 14, 2018.
“It will inform those who are health enthusiasts and support those who want to start to learn about creating and sustaining a balance in their lives,” Walsh explained at the event launch yesterday.
The event — which is partnered by the Bon Secours hospital in Tralee — will hear from sports psychologist, Gerry Hussey, world champion athlete, Derval O’Rourke, Waterford hurling manager, Derek McGrath, plus food blogger Rozanna Purcell and a host of other speakers.
The day is the brainchild of three sports people — Walsh plus former Kerry hurlers John ‘Tweek’ Griffin, and James Flaherty — each of whom has played to an elite standard in their respective sports and who have experienced at the coalface, the struggles in maintaining a “balance” in their lives.
Panel discussions on the day will engage, educate, and empower attendees by discussing such issues as motivational barriers, setting healthy eating goals and will demonstrate innovative exercise concepts.
Added Griffin: “Whether you are a trainer, a young GAA player or basketball player, or an older person who wants to get active and healthy, you will face different challenges.
The Balance Expo will facilitate those early stage exercisers or the more seasoned health enthusiasts.”
