St Mary’s 1-15 Skellig Rangers 1-6: St Mary’s claimed their third consecutive South Kerry SFC title with a nine-point win over Skellig Rangers at Con Keating Park, Cahersiveen on Saturday.

St Mary’s, who will be operating in the top flight of the county league next season, had too much firepower for the brave Portmagee outfit who will pe playing Division 4 football in 2017. The title was a fitting send off for winning manager Maurice Fitzgerald who joined Eamonn’s Fitzmaurice’s county management team last month.

Fitzgerald said: They are a group that never press the panic button and we came back out in the second half and worked hard. It means everything to the lads and me to have won our own championship. They are a fantastic group of footballers who are very easy to motivate. They are self-driven”.
