Galway issue needs wider discussion, says Páraic Duffy

GAA director General Páraic Duffy believes the possible issue of which province Galway should compete in in hurling should be decided at national level.

Last night, it was revealed Galway club Liam Mellows have proposed that the county be empowered to make an approach to Munster about their inter-county teams taking part in the Munster championships. In a motion going forward to annual county convention next month, Liam Mellows recommend all of Galway’s inter-county teams — minor, U21, junior, intermediate and senior — participate in Munster from 2018 onwards.

Duffy, who was speaking at the launch of ‘Priority’, a marketing drive for the sale of premium seats in the new Páirc Uí Chaoimh, at the Rochestown Park Hotel, feels there needs to be a wider discussion on the subject.
