Brian Cody will mark 19 years in charge of Kilkenny’s senior hurling team after he was confirmed as manager for 2017 following a meeting of the county board in Nowlan Park last night.

Despite speculation changes would be made to his backroom team, the James Stephens man will again be joined by trainer/selector Michael Dempsey as well as selectors James McGarry and Derek Lyng.

Laois native and Carlow IT GAA academy head Dempsey has worked with Cody since 2003, a relationship that has seen Kilkenny claim an impressive nine All-Ireland titles.
