Loughmore-Castleiney oust Clonmel Commercials in cracker

Munster club champions and beaten All-Ireland finalists Clonmel Commercials were knocked out of the Tipperary senior football championship at Boherlahan on Sunday, losing out to Loughmore-Castleiney 0-9 to 0-8 in a nail-biting semi-final.

These sides have shared the title between them for the past four years and in a very close first half, Loughmore were narrowly in front, 0-5 to 0-4.

Two Michael Quinlivan points for Commercials had them ahead early in the second half but Loughmore recovered, and Cian Hennessy’s point after 38 minutes put them 0-9 to 0-7 in front. Scores were at a premium in the last quarter. Michael Quinlivan’s point for Commercials was the only flag raised as Loughmore marched onto their third final in four years.
