Referee David Gough pelted after controversial late call

The Kerry County Board may face a hefty fine after objects were thrown at referee David Gough following yesterday’s All-Ireland semi-final.

Items including match programmes and plastic bottles were flung in the direction of the Meath official by Kerry fans as he left the field via the Cusack Stand tunnel.

Kingdom supporters were incensed when four minutes into additional time Gough chose not to award Peter Crowley a free for an aggressive tackle on Kevin McManamon, which TV replays showed was a foul. Kerry were trailing by one point at the time and conceded another shortly after McManamon forced Crowley into turning over the ball.
