Jim Gavin could face disciplinary action over ‘players let down’ remarks

Jim Gavin may be asked to explain his comments about referee Ciarán Branagan and his team of officials after he claimed they let the “players down” in Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final.

The Dublin manager made the serious claim having insisted Diarmuid Connolly was provoked by Ryan McHugh in picking up his first yellow card before the vice-captain was shown a second later on in the game for a high tackle on Anthony Thompson.

Eoghan O’Gara was dismissed late on for making contact with Neil McGee although replays indicated the call was a harsh one and Dublin are almost certain to appeal.
