Páirc Uí Rinn to host qualifier clash

Limerick were first out of the bowl in yesterday’s qualifier draw, but a home and away arrangement with Cork — which stretches beyond Munster championship fixtures — means the game will be played at Páirc Uí Rinn, not the Gaelic Grounds.
The counties last met in the All-Ireland series in 2010, Cork scoring a 0-16 to 1-11 extra-time qualifier win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.
“They owe us a game from 2010 and so the game will be played in Cork,” Cork chairman Ger Lane confirmed yesterday.
The counties last met in the football championship in 2013 when Cork won 3-17 to 0-8 in a Munster quarter-final at the Gaelic Grounds.
Cork officials, meanwhile, expect a crowd of between 10,000 and 12,000 for Saturday evening’s hurling qualifier between Cork and Dublin. The fixture is an all-ticket affair and patrons are advised to purchase their tickets beforehand to avoid delay on the evening (adult €20, concession €10, juveniles €5).
Elsewhere in the football qualifier draw, Mayo will welcome Fermanagh in their first sojourn through the backdoor since 2010. Dennis Connerton’s Longford await the outcome of this weekend’s Ulster semi-final replay between Monaghan and Donegal to learn who they travel to in the second round. In the final round 2B fixture, Kildare have been drawn at home to Offaly.
Roscommon are hunting for a new U21 football manager after Mark Dowd stepped down from the role.
