Cork boss Ephie Fitzgerald has refused to be drawn into a war of words with Gregory McGonigle after the Dublin supremo accused the Rebels of cynicism and systematic fouling during the Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1 semi-final between the counties.

Fitzgerald, who is hoping to scoop his first piece of silverware as Cork boss in Saturday’s League final against Mayo, insisted he won’t be getting into a “tit-for-tat” slagging match with McGonigle.

McGonigle claimed he saw “loads of cynicism” from the holders in the semi-final and was unhappy that Cork’s Deirdre O’Reilly was not punished for a challenge on Lyndsey Davey that saw the Dublin player forced off injured.
