Michael Ryan couldn’t disguise his disappointment after yet another tight defeat for Tipperary.

Following a similar vein to previous defeats like Kilkenny in round two and Galway in last year’s All-Ireland semi-final, Tipperary were the poorer in the final stretch.

“I hate that term, it always seems to be a close one!” said Ryan. “I wonder would someone give us a beating some time soon, and I jest. It’s very disappointing for us and the group, we really wanted to progress in this league and we just fell short.
