Wounded Cork footballers hold hands up as losses begin to hurt

Stepping outside the Cork dressing-room following their hugely impressive opening day victory at home to Mayo, Mark Collins was adamant that the nine-point dismissal of the westerners would count for nothing if not backed up in the weeks following.

Consistency, you see, hasn’t exactly been an ally of the Cork footballers in recent years.

“We have had wins in the league in the last couple of years and haven’t kicked on from there,” said Collins. “Hopefully, we can build from here.”
