Michael Ryan: We played on front foot

Michael Ryan hailed Tipperary’s win over opponents who have provided stubborn resistance in recent years.

Dublin won league fixtures against the Premier County in 2010, 2011 and 2015 but Tipp dished out a 14-point beating at Semple Stadium to kickstart their 2016 campaign.

Ryan came in for some local criticism for opting out of the pre-season Munster Senior League but his decision to plump for a series of challenge games instead appeared to be vindicated as Tipp looked much sharper than a Dublin side that claimed recent Walsh Cup glory.
