Mikey Sheehy blasts ‘ludicrous’ January start to league
The Kingdom opened their Division 1 campaign away to Dublin last weekend, having trained collectively on just five occasions since the turn of the New Year. All 32 teams across the four divisions will enjoy a three week lay-off following this weekend’s second round of games and Sheehy doesn’t see the sense in forcing teams out in late January and then handing them nearly a month’s break.
Jim Gavin last weekend advocated a late March beginning to the league, a sentiment shared by the Kerry football selector.
