Briain Ó Beaglaíoch makes Kerry debut at Croker
Briain Ó Beaglaíoch of An Ghaeltacht will make his debut in the full-back line for Eamonn Fitzmaurice’s side, while in attack Philip O’Connor (Cordal) is given a first start, having been involved as a substitute in last year’s league.
Of the team which began the All-Ireland, goalkeeper Brendan Kealy, Shane Enright, Killian Young, Fionn Fitzgerald, David Moran, Johnny Buckley, Stephen O’Brien and Donnchadh Walsh remain. Three more of tomorrow’s side – Darran O’Sullivan, Paul Murphy, and Barry John Keane – came off the bench in the All-Ireland. Tommy Walsh is named at ful-forward, with Young captaining from centre-back.
Peter Kelleher makes his first start at full-forward for Cork’s clash with Mayo on Sunday in Páirc Uí Rinn. The Kilmichael player featured for Jimmy Barry-Murphy’s hurlers last year but has impressed in the McGrath Cup, scoring two goals in the clash with Waterford.
Ian Maguire makes his first league appearance since the game with Monaghan 51 weeks ago, after which he suffered a back injury. He is at midfield alongside Mark Collins while the experimentation of Colm O’Driscoll at right corner-back continues. Of the team which began the McGrath Cup final against Clare, Dan Mac Eoin is replaced by Kelleher; Luke Connolly and Andrew O’Sullivan come in for Ruairí Deane and Kevin O’Driscoll on the wings and Jamie O’Sullivan takes over at corner-back from Kieran Histon.
Tyrone, who face Cavan in Division 2, have handed league debuts to goalkeeper Michael O’Neill, Niall Sludden, Conor Meyler and Lee Brennan in a team which shows seven changes from the Dr McKenna Cup final with Derry.
