Seán Ó hAilpín steps up to dual coaching role with Na Piarsaigh
The three-time All-Ireland senior hurling medallist retired from club hurling after the 2014 season but did turn out for the city club’s footballers last year. The northsiders have appointed the same management team for both codes for the coming campaign, with Stephen O’Sullivan manager and Ó hAilpín as coach.
Other changes among senior hurling championship teams see Eddie Murphy return to Ballymartle after his Blackrock departure, where two more All-Ireland winners, Fergal Ryan and Wayne Sherlock, have taken charge. Teddy McCarthy replaces Pat Ryan at Sarsfields, in the wake of Ryan becoming involved with the Cork team.
