High School Clonmel on a high as victory points to Tipperary emergence

High School Clonmel 1-11 Coláiste Choilm Ballincollig 1-8: Further evidence that Tipperary football is on the rise was seen in this Corn Uí Mhuirí quarter-final victory at the all-weather pitch in Carriganore (WIT) yesterday as High School Clonmel got the better of Coláiste Choilm.

A second-half Michael O’Reilly goal set them on the way, although they did have to withstand a late Cork rally.

Not since 1928 has the High School won this prestigious trophy. Next up is St Francis College, Rochestown — a team they have beaten in the group stages. For selector Tony Gleeson yesterday was a day to savour.
