Having defeated UCD by six points on Thursday night, Dublin started on the front foot with Paul Ryan netting in the fourth minute after a telling incision by Ben Quinn.
Despite Ciaran Clarke and Eddie McCloskey replying with points for the visitors, Antrim struggled to contain the Dublin attack in the early stages with David Treacy and Eamonn Dillon particularly prominent for Ger Cunningham’s outfit.
An excellent point from distance by Kevin McKernan offered momentum to the Antrim challenge and they restored parity by the 21st minute as McCloskey availed of a defensive error to fire confidently past Conor Dooley.Dublin responded impressively with Chris Crummey and Ryan restoring their advantage and the lively Niall McMorrow and Quinn ensured the hosts kept their noses in front.
McKernan’s ability to score from distance ensured the contest remained tight throughout the first-half with Dublin inching a point clear at the break thanks to a brace of frees from Ryan.
It proved slightly more one-sided upon the restart with Crummey, McMorrow and Johnny McCaffrey hitting three points in quick succession before Dillon put daylight between the sides with a wonderful solo goal in the 45th minute.
A Liam Watson free briefly stemmed the flow for Antrim but with McMorrow finding pockets of space at regular intervals, Dublin continued to build on their lead as the half progressed.
Dillon was heavily involved in Dublin’s third goal as he handed substitute Sean Reilly a relatively straightforward task of finding the net from close range with 15 minutes remaining.
McCloskey and Watson gained reward for their perseverance with points at the opposite end but Dublin eased home with Darragh O’Connell, Ryan, Johnny McCaffrey and Reilly confirming a facile success with late scores.
