Cian O’Neill unhappy as he prepares to cut Kildare panel

O’Byrne Cup - Offaly 0-11 Kildare 0-13: Kildare’s run of victories over Offaly at all levels may have continued in O’Connor Park yesterday afternoon but manager Cian O’Neill was far from happy with his side’s display.

“Conditions have been used as an excuse but that couldn’t be used to explain our failure to execute the basic skills. There comes a time when lads need to reflect on their own performance and the team’s performance” he said afterwards, before confirming that their training panel of around 50 will be cut to 34 players in the next couple of days.

The visitors led 0-8 to 0-5 at half-time. The second half was a scrappy affair with poor passing on both sides, while both teams ended the O’Byrne Cup without a goal in their three starts.
