Canon O’Brien helped UCC to 10 Fitzgibbon Cups between 1981 and 1991 including the famous eight in a row of 1981 to 1988, as well as coaching Cork to the 1990 All-Ireland senior hurling title. He passed away in November 2014.

There is no admission fee to the game but the Cork branch of the Irish Alzheimer’s Society appeal to the generosity of those attending and ask that they make a donation to their volunteer collectors on the day.

Meanwhile Cork’s Munster SHL game against Kerry tomorrow has been switched from Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney to the Mallow GAA Complex.

The game throws in at 2pm.
