Donoghue was appointed just a few days before Christmas, but the squad then went on a holiday to Dubai.

“We will train on Friday and then play DCU on Sunday in the Walsh Cup. That will be the first of three games in a week, so it will be a case of hitting the ground running,” said Donoghue.

His backroom team is expected to include Turloughmore’s Francis Forde.

“We have a busy few weeks ahead of us, with the national league just around the corner, but we are looking forward to it,” said Donoghue.

Galway will play NUIG in a midweek fixture on Wednesday and then take on Westmeath in Mullingar on Sunday week in the Walsh Cup. The Tribesmen will open their national league campaign against Cork at Pearse Stadium on February 14.
