The shortlist of three proposals to change the structure of the All-Ireland senior football championship will be put to counties in the coming weeks.

As was reported last month, none of them entail a Champions League-style format, which had been proposed by a number of parties including the GPA.

Among the trio, however, is a recommendation to introduce a “B” competition similar to the defunct Tommy Murphy Cup and Carlow’s blueprint, which would see the provincial and straight knock-out All-Ireland series run almost concurrently.
