Dublin hit out at ‘Scrooge’ approach of Croke Park

Dublin GAA secretary John Costello has accused Croke Park top brass of behaving like Ebeneezer Scrooge after their request for a share of the gate receipts from the Dublin-Mayo All-Ireland semi-final replay yielded the “princely sum” of €7,500.

In the wake of their All-Ireland football success, Dublin GAA made contact with Croke Park seeking an additional grant from the semi-final replay pot towards the financing of this month’s team holiday.

Having been promised €15,000, half this sum was then recouped by the CCCC following the brawl which marred last month’s Super 11s clash between Dublin and Galway in Fenway Park.
