Dunboyne shake off brave Bantry

Dunboyne (Meath) 1-10 Bantry Blues (Cork) 1-3: They will enjoy this one but new All-Ireland ladies’ junior club football champions, Dunboyne, already have their eyes set on bigger prizes.

Dunboyne shake off brave Bantry

Faster, stronger and with more football than Bantry Blues in Saturday’s All-Ireland decider at a rain-lashed Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, Dunboyne swept their way to an impressive victory, inspired by player of the match Vikki Wall. The Meath minor scored 1-6, including a crucial goal near the end of the first half that gave Dunboyne the edge — they led 1-3 to 0-1 at half-time.

Any hopes of a Bantry comeback were hurt in the third quarter as Dunboyne established a strong 1-8 to 0-2 lead, as Shelly Melia (who setup Wall’s goal), Ann-Marie Moffatt, Aoife Thompson (free) and Wall (2) had the Meath side in firm control.
