Mount Sion duo Gleeson and Ian O’Regan, who is a selector with the club team, and De La Salle’s Shane McNulty won’t be joining the rest of this year’s Division 1-winning panel when they jet out to Malaga tomorrow.

It is believed alternative dates were available for the game to be rescheduled but the board’s competitions committee have opted for it to take place at the WIT campus in Carriganore this Sunday lunch-time.

One Mount Sion official said he had not heard “grumblings” about the clash and reckoned a postponement would have been granted had the trip to Spain been a training camp. A number of Waterford’s players will also be heading to Austin, Texas next week as part of the GAA-GPA Opel 2014-2015 All-Stars trip.

However, hurlers in a number of counties have been ruled out because of exams while some of last year’s Tipperary All-Star recipients won’t make the journey as recently-retired Shane McGrath is set to get married the weekend after next.
