Playing with the elements in the opening half, the Imokilly side had Knockavilla on the defensive from the start, but wayward shooting was proving to be costly.
Ciara Taheny opened the scoring with a point for Knockavilla but, with wind advantage, the tide turned in Glenville’s favour as Ellie Cooke opened their account with a point in the seventh minute. Lara Hegarty drilled home a goal and Clodagh Dorgan pointed a free to give their side a 1-2 to 0-1 interval lead.
With the wind at their backs for the second half, Knockavilla upped the ante as they held the East Cork side scoreless. Kate Lynch pointed two frees early in the third quarter. The Carrigdhoun side continued to have Glenville pinned back as persistent fouling by the East Cork side presented Knockavilla with frees from kickable positions which they failed to convert.
