Rathnew spring surprise against Edenderry

Edenderry (Offaly) 0-11 Rathnew (Wicklow) 0-12: Wicklow champions Rathnew booked a Leinster Club SFC quarter-final with St Loman’s of Westmeath after snatching victory over Edenderry at O’Connor Park yesterday.

It was a win which looked extremely unlikely at the interval with the Offaly hosts enjoying a 0-9 to 0-5 lead.

The combination play of 6”6 full-forward Aaron McDonnell and his corner-forward colleague Seán Doyle was too hot for Rathnew in the opening half as they linked up to score eight points between them.
